Slide Background
Curriculum for Alternative Needs

4th Dimension have created a programme designed to assist students with alternative needs or those displaying Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND), allowing them to access outdoor education and activities through Learning Outside the Classroom in line with their mainstream core subjects.  This programme has proved effective among young people from differing backgrounds, especially those who struggle to cope with generic classroom based learning.

The programme can be tailored to suit any age group, ability, or requirement of the education establishment. We are currently working with both Year 10 and Year 11 students from a Sussex based Academy.

We can offer a range of activities and certificate these with National Governing Body Awards in Indoor Rock Climbing, PaddleSport (including Canoe, Kayak and Paddleboarding), Leadership and Navigation along with in-house certificates in areas such as Archery and Bushcraft.

Some of the National Governing Body Awards on offer are as follows:

  • National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme (NICAS)

  • British Canoeing PaddleSport Discovery and Explore Awards https://www.britishcanoeingawarding.org.uk/paddle-awards/
  • National Navigation Award Scheme (NNAS) Outdoor Discovery Awards

All of the above are progressive awards and can be continued to a higher level should you wish to opt for an additional year or something extra! The table below provides an example of a delivery programme based on consecutive weeks over a one year period.

If this sounds like it could be of interest, please feel free to contact us to discuss your individual requirements.
